A COOL BREEZE!!!

Thank You, Heavenly Father!

My AC went out on us on Saturday night. Ugggh. The fan on our old 21 year old unit is completely broken. So for the past couple days, I've been hanging at my sister's house. We've been having a lot of fun, but I'm glad there's a cool breeze to help me stay here so we can get estimates for a new system, and so I can get some stuff done. When we came back from Victoria's house on Sunday night, our house was like walking into a sauna. It was SO HOT, but fortunately, the night breeze kept me cool for the night. Debbie, a friend of mine, mentioned to me how the pioneers must have felt in over 100 degree weather without AC or any electricity or ice. All I know is that I wouldn't want to be them right now. I can hardly walk up my stairs without breaking a sweat, let alone cross the hot plains at 9 months pregnant.

So, to keep cool, we'll be going to different friends' houses, and hope that this breeze lasts for another week until we can get our AC system replaced. Even Tekina has asked if our air conditioner is coming today. Oh, boy do I wish it was! I hope this cool weather lasts!!!

FRUMPOLOGY 101

1. Never wear designer clothes, or anything resembling designer clothes ... EVER.

2. As long as you don't stink too badly, it's not worth taking a shower.

3. Getting ready for going to the grocery store is unnecessary. Just wear your pajamas you wore the night before.

4. Pajamas are your friends.

5. Curling iron, and blow dryer? What are those?

6. Hairspray may only be used the night before a frump day as long as it creates a massive mess on your head.

7. Spend most of your day on the computer, TV, or inside the house doing mindless activities. Make sure your kids are doing mindless activities too.

8. Layers of deodorant can fix most stinky problems.

9. Washing your face and brushing your teeth are allowed as long as you don't apply makeup afterwards.

10. Make sure your kids don't look better than you if you dare venture out into the open.



I don't know if I need to explain to you my little course on frumpology, but I will just say, as I get bigger and bigger, and as my maternity jeans get too small, I'm resorting to pajama pants and large t-shirts. It's very sad. I have a few cute clothes, but they're mostly winter attire that there's no way I can wear in this HOT HOT weather. Plus, what good would I be as a frump if I looked great in my maternity clothes?

Due Date

So, after visiting the doctor in Modesto, I was able to get him to move up my due date a couple of days. My C-section will be on August 25th. I pre-warned him about my tendency to have Big-Baby syndrome. Unfortunately, he couldn't do much about that. You see, Noa, born exactly on his due date was my first C-section because he was a whopping 10 lbs 2 oz 23 inches long. Tekina, who was my 2nd C-section, 1 week early was only 1 lb and 1 inch less than Noa. I'm thinking this kiddo is going to probably be right in between Tekina and Noa. I'll wager a 9 lb 8 oz baby boy, 22.5 inches long. We haven't come up with a name that we are all in agreement yet, but that will all happen later as it always has.

I also was able to visit my good friend at the hospital who had a stroke. According to her husband, she's doing better, but she's still unable to move her right side and swallow/talk/show emotion. I wanted to communicate with her so badly, but it was just impossible. Hopefully, we'll be able to chat soon... if only by paper. She's one of the most spunky ladies I have ever known, so for me to see her this way was a bit shocking. I hope she continues to improve. The first thing she did when I entered the room was to comb her hair with her left hand's long fingernails. I'm going to miss her in church. Looks like it will be a long road to recovery.

I was pretty worn out today. I was so HOT... and am so HOT now, that I can hardly keep my eyes from fluttering shut. I have complained about the weird summer weather we've been having, but I'd much rather have it cold right now than HOT. My lovely A/C ... as much as it tries to keep me cool, is not doing as well as I wish it would.

Independence Day

Ahhh another Fourth Of July come and gone. We decided to do something a little different this year. We woke up early and attended the Mountain House 4th of July parade. Danelle, from church, volunteered to organize and put it together. Without her volunteering, there would have been no parade. What a trooper. I'm not sure I would have had the guts to pull off something like this. It was very nice and successful. It was mostly fun to see a lot of people from our ward in there.

It was too cold and windy out (I know, it's weird weather here right now) to go to the little park with the water feature (this summer's favorite with the kids). So, we went home and invited Tommy and Victoria over for a BBQ in the afternoon. The kiddos went swimming while I did lamb ribs and tri-tip on the barbie. At night we headed to Lincoln park to do the fireworks. Here's a small sample. The Tracy fireworks seem to be getting better every year. Next year, we'll probably go to Tracy High's stadium to watch so we can get a better look.

The kids were very excited during the fireworks. DH was annoyed because the fireworks started late, and he was so tired after the day of fun, but in the end he seemed to enjoy himself. Lighten up, Frances!!! Anyways, we had a good day. Victoria and I went garage sale-ing the next morning where she found a great bunk bed set for Tray's room. I didn't find the chest of drawers I was looking for, but I had fun anyways.

Tomorrow, I'm off to the doctor's office in Modesto to meet the guy who will be doing my c-section. I'll also be visiting a friend from our ward who had a stroke on Friday night. I hope she'll be okay. I saw her just last week, and she was running around trying to get ready for a reunion in Idaho. I hate to hear bad news like this. I seriously take for granted my health and freedom. I'm even more thankful for Independence Day this year as I think about these things.

Summer - Too Hot Outside

So, it's been weird weather here in Northern Cali. Yesterday, it was almost too cold to run in the water at the park. Today, I'm sitting here pretty lifeless because I'm too hot. So, since my last post was kinda gloomy, I thought I'd cheer you all up with a video taken just minutes ago that tells you how my kids are spending their hot afternoon ... indoors.

In California

So, I don't mean to get all political and moral on everyone that reads my blog, but I will go ahead and write something about what I heard in church last Sunday. If you weren't aware, Californians were asked by the 1st presidency to uphold an earlier vote made by California (by a 61% majority) to uphold marriage as between a man and a woman. There has been A LOT of debate over this, and personally, I'm fed up with the so-called members that think they don't have a moral obligation to uphold a majority vote which standardizes the definition of marriage. I hate to make light of the situation, but a lady forwarded this song to me which clearly spells out my point of view:

I guess when the majority is in favor of gay marriage, we're all in trouble. Until then, I hope the majority vote is upheld and kiddos coming into the world have the right to have a mom and dad. If only they could make that decision for themselves as a baby. I'll post my view on forums as long as it takes. I participated in the rallies in Hawaii over 10 years ago when gay marriage was on the ballot, and I'll do it again in California.
